ABOUT US - PARTICIPANTS
Since 1996 the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center (RMSC) has assisted hundreds of participants from around the world. During the past four years, the center has served, on average, 200 participants from more than 30 countries each year. Some of the countries represented include Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, Mauritania, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Angola, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Togo. Services are provided in more than 35 languages using professional interpreters. More than 85% of participants are seeking asylum in the United States when they come to the center.

Services are provided to about equal numbers of men and women and the average age is approximately 29 years, though the center also assists children and older adults. Participants come from varied occupational, educational, and religious backgrounds. Many participants are in the United States without their closest family members.
