Houston Asylum Office Grants:
Jonathan Asarch of Faegre & Benson who was successful in representing a Sudanese couple in fleeing gender-based harm.
Mike Crimmins of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in representing an Eritrean man who was persecuted for voicing his political views.
Benjamin Graham, Esq. in representing a young man from Somalia who was persecuted because of his clan membership.
Florence Heuschen, a Northeastern University Law School student, and Melissa Golddate, a DU law student, supervised by Regina Germain, who represented a woman from Benin who feared being subjected to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Kelly Ryan and Christopher Bosch, DU law students supervised by Regina Germain, who represented a politically active medical student from Democratic Republic of Congo.
Leonard Segreti and Cristel Shepherd of Qwest Communications, who represented a couple from Eritrea who had a fear of persecution based on their Pentecostal faith.
Eric Triplett and Jennifer Sullivan of Faegre & Benson, who represented a politically active woman and victim of gender-based violence from Burkina Faso.
Immigration Court Grants:
Elsa Burchinow, Esq. who was successful in representing an Eritrean woman and her two children who fled persecution based on their ethnicity.
Brea Burgie and Kristin Knudson, DU law students supervised by Regina Germain, who were successful in representing a woman subjected to FGM from the Ivory Coast.
Catherine Chan of the Law Firm of Catherine Chan, in representing an Ethiopian woman who was tortured because of her political activities and was also a victim of FGM.
Kenzo Kawanabe and Nathalie Bleuze of Davis Graham & Stubbs in representing a politically active Togolese student.
Kristin Knudson and Joe Whitcomb, DU law students supervised by Regina Germain, in representing an Ethiopian woman who was a victim of FGM.
Cecilia Kupchik of Wegher & Associates in representing a politically active Ethiopian man.
Ginger McGuire of the McGuire Law Firm in representing a woman from Nepal who was victimized by Maoist rebels.
Humanitarian Parole Grant:
Kalin (Mittleider) Ivany, a DU law student supervised by Regina Germain, who was successful in obtaining humanitarian parole for an Iraqi girl in Basra.
