| | | TAKE ACTION - CONGREGATIONS
Participants often say that their faith has been a major source of strength and hope during their darkest moments. Many participants are alone, or with few family members in Denver, and seek companionship and support as they adjust to life in an unfamiliar country.
Rocky Mountain Survivors Center (RMSC) invites faith communities, from any faith tradition, to work with us through the Congregational Partnership Program to assist torture survivors. Many faith communities embrace a call to walk beside people who have suffered persecution as an important part of building a more just world. Some of the most important ways to offer support include providing pro bono professional services (such as mental health, legal, health care, or interpretation services), by offering space for participant social gatherings, assistance with special projects (call about current opportunities), sponsoring a fundraising event, or through financial support for programs (such as food cards, health care costs, or interpretation).
In addition, RMSC provides presentations, film showings, and educational sessions for congregations on the work of the center and on torture, such as a session titled, "Is Torture Ever Justified? Exploring Ethical, Legal and Faith Perspectives" or a showing of the feature film "Chasing Freedom".
